Biography
Immediately following his military service in Vietnam, Ron secured a summer job at Diamond Oaks Golf Course in Roseville, CA. At summer’s end he planned to return to college and pursue a career as a collegiate baseball coach but as fate would have it, he developed an instant passion for the game of golf, and thus, pursued a career as a PGA Golf Professional, a decision he has never regretted.
Prior to his arrival at the nationally-ranked Sevillano Links at Rolling Hills Casino, Ron developed his professional golf career at several fine golf clubs including two in Hawaii, Kauai Lagoons Golf Club and the Princeville Resort.
Ron has been an integral part of the golf operations team at Sevillano Links since the course opened in 2007 and this year he assumed the dual position as PGA Head Golf Professional and Director of Instruction. Customer service remains his number one-priority as he assists golfers and resort guests in the golf shop, planning tournament outings, or at the lesson tee.
Ron is a supporter of Play Golf America plus several popular player development programs and initiatives: Free Lesson Month, Girls Club: Golf Fore A Cause, Get Golf Ready, Saving Strokes, Doctor’s Orders: Play Golf, and Patriot Golf Day.
Philosophy
Ron has a reputation as an exceptional PGA golf instructor. He believes no two students are alike, so Ron always makes sure that a golf lesson is personalized to accommodate the learning style of each golfer/student. Ron fully understands the precision of a golf swing and is proficient in assisting both professional players and amateur golfers at both levels—mentally and physically. He is best-noted for his proven putting and short game methods. As your personal swing coach his goal is to “help you play your best game ever” which translates into increased enjoyment of the sport.
In addition to his work with adult students and collegiate players (one-on-one or in group sessions) Ron has a successful youth golf program at Sevillano Links. The goal of the junior program is for students to have fun, learn swing basics, course etiquette and rules, while also instilling positive life skills (i.e. confidence, self control, and respect for others both on-and-off the course). Through his tutorship Pro Ron helps budding golfers reach their full potential. In some cases his students have earned college scholarships based on excelled playing performance.
